Fireplace

We have made a few changes to our home, we have a new fireplace.
We put in a fireplace were there was not one.

I wish I had some before photos, but I can not find any, I will keep looking.     It is electric, I know that sounds like it would be really cheesy, but it looks amazing.

I have never seen an electric fireplace look so real.

It has a blower, so it keeps the room toasty, also.

I am in love.

It really finishes off the living room.

I will be back tomorrow to tell you how we did it!

Bathroom Vanity

This is one of of the bathrooms in our home.  I wanted an old feel to it.  My mother in law gave us an old blanket cabinet from the 40's a long time ago.  So when we were redoing this bathroom we decided to use it as the vanity.  I got an old cast iron sink from a salvage store and some marble and put it on top.  One of the things that bother me about today's vanities is 1) no personality, 2) cheap pressed wood, and 3) soooo short.  Now I am not a tall person, average at 5'7", but I hate bending over to use the sink.  I think it is odd that the standard height is lower than kitchen cabinets.!!???  So the blanket cabinet is tall and I love, love, love it.  It makes it so much more convenient.  I also really love the look of it.

This cabinet was not in the best shape.  I sanded it and coated it with an ebony wax that I love.  It is called Bri-Wax and the ebony does not make it black, it just gives it a wonderful dark finish.

I also changed the knobs to small porcelain ones.  We cut a hole in the marble and set the sink on top.  I love the sink because it has its own back splash built in, great for my 3 children. We all love how it turned out and no bending required!

Tuckered Out!

Well the festival is over and I am exhausted!  It was a lot of fun and very informative.  I got to walk around to all the booths and learn how to help mother nature a little more than normal.  It is amazing the wealth of things you can do to make our planet a better place.
The weather could not have been better.  My family came up on Sunday and my children had the best time.  They had a lot of kid friendly things to do.  I did not get any photos of the other booths, I completely forgot to take pictures! DUH! ; \
Anyway i did remember to take photos of my booth after I set up.
So this is what it looked like.

It took forever to set up, but it was worth it!  I will post more pictures later.

Going green!

Well here are some more pics of the things I have been making for the show.
This is a kitchen cabinet door with a beveled mirror.

This is an old wood window with an antiqued mirror.

A mirror with some new paint and wood accents.

This is a silver foil technique I do.

A new paint job on this frame and an antiqued mirror.

A fabulous window with the glass left in tacked and a mirror put behind.

Festival

I have been getting ready for a green festival for about 2 months now.  The salvage yard I used to work at asked me if I would set up and man a booth at the EarthWell festival in Park City.  Of course I said yes as I would get to promote my design business in the process.  It has been a lot of work, but I have got a lot done.  I am excited for this show, it will be great.  I really believe in recycling, reusing and reducing.  I believe that by doing all of these things, it will not only help save our planet but also help save ourselves.  Here is a teaser of some of my things.  I will show you more tomorrow.

Stone Houses

I am always a sucker for stone houses and english cottages.  We lived in England for 6 months while my husband finished Law School, it was the greatest time.  The architecture is amazing, I had never seen anything like it, except in photos.  Being there to actually see it and touch it was awesome.  Here are some of my favorites.  I hope you like them too.

Love Affair

I probably should not tell you, but I am having a love affair.

Please don't think bad of me, my husband does know, but is not happy about it.

So every time I mention it or bring home my love, all he has to say is,

"Where is that going?"

or "Do we even have a space for that?"

But I can not help myself, I love lamps.  They are everywhere in my house.

Thanks for looking!!
